New Build Townhouse – Demolition and Rebuild
A complete demolition and rebuild of a new, larger dwelling with an extensive range of energy-saving systems. Designed to the customer’s specification, style and personal taste.
This build project was a perfect opportunity to showcase our premium workmanship and design skills, whilst implementing variety of our recommended Energy efficient systems.
The home was built using super-efficient insulation with airtight membranes extending to the roof, preventing the mass of heat loss that occurs within homes built to the usual Building Regulation standards. Alongside this, we installed Austrian manufactured triple-glazed windows (Internorm), helping further to reduce heat loss and promoting heat gain via solar irradiation.
Solar PV was installed on the roof to provide electricity and hot water to the home, lowering the overall running costs. We reduced the customer’s utility bills further by installing an unground rainwater harvesting system which was linked to their outside taps, toilets and washing machine.
A Thermal Store Heat Exchange system was installed, which we know sounds confusing but it just means that the system takes heat expelled by appliances in the home (like your log burner and cooker) and stores it in your water tank to heat your water for the shower and other hot taps.
To maximise the Customer’s investment in the above energy and money saving systems we installed a MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) system. This meant that we could ensure filtered, fresh air could still enter the home whilst retaining most of the energy that has already been used to heat the building.
