Barn – New Build Dwelling
A conventional new build dwelling with 3 bedrooms. This project took us 6 months from start to completion. It comprises of Vulex windows and bedrooms up in the eaves and a beautifully open plan ground floor living area.
Whilst the Customer had no specific energy saving requirements for the build, to meet building regulations we conducted the usual building air testing. This test excelled in performance and that maximum air changes per hour allowed are 10 pascals. This project received 3 pascal per hour.
This was a significant achievement at the start of our low-energy building, as it is close to the Passivhaus guidance of 0.6 pascals per hour.
Most prominently, the black cladding on this home was made from cement fibreboard. This was an essential building material as it was built so close to the boundary, we needed appropriate fire-resistant material, whilst fulfilling the Customer’s request for a premium barn-renovation finish.
